This episode is the one about Hadacol!!
I created a separate page about Dudley LeBlanc, the inventor of Hadacol. Here’s some other information not on that page, including some photos of documents that I found in the National Archives. I knew that that there was some kind of censorship of French-language news on KVOL during WW2. On a hunch, I dug around and found some documents. Also some related material from station KPLC in Lake Charles, which had a similar incident.

Here’s an article that appeared in Broadcasting in August 1943.

The letter below explains to the US government that a good chunk of the audience could not speak English, and needed the French radio broadcasts to stay informed.

And finally, here are a bunch of pix of the original Dudley LeBlanc cassette tapes that I got from Warren Perrin. You can find links to them on this page over here.
