This is the episode all about Fred’s Lounge, a bar in Mamou that was a major inspiration for my research. I’m not going to summarize the whole history of the bar-radio-show here (buy my book!) but I did want to share some extra images here. (You can also check out the regular Fred’s Lounge page right here.)

First up, here’s an album on the left that I got when I was a teen-ager. The second album, on the right, was not recorded at Fred’s, but it was the same weekly broadcast on KEUN. The Arhoolie label, out of California, released many early zydeco albums and a good deal of Cajun music as well.

Here’s a video I made back in 2023. This has some images of my surprise encounter with Tante Sue, plus some pix of Seth Reed.
